about

I live with my partner in a wonderful place surrounded by wilderness. One day, I strapped on my mandolin and we went walking around. We got to our outdoor stage when it started to rain. I have always loved the rain. I love gardening in the rain and am not afraid of getting soaked. I lived in the Pacific Northwest for a few years where you just had to accept it. I think the sound of the rain on the roof inspired this song and the fact that I was there “with my fella.” It was also at a time when outdoor venues were beginning to open up in a limited capacity. I was surely looking forward to “hearing the sound of music everywhere I go.”

lyrics

Let the rain come, I’ve got my umbrella
Let the rain come, I’m here with my fella
I’ve always got a song in my heart
Let the rain come

I’m not saying that life can’t get a little tough now and then
I’m just saying that there’s always something better ‘round the bend

Let the rain come, I’ve got my umbrella
Let the rain come, I’m here with my fella
I’ve always got a song in my heart
Let the rain come

I’ve been looking at the storm clouds growing and the rain start to pour
Now I’m looking for a rainbow, when I walk out the door

Let the rain come, I’ve got my umbrella
Let the rain come, I’m here with my fella
I’ve always got a song in my heart
Let the rain come

I’ve been hearing the thunder rumble and the wind start to blow
Now I’m hearing the sound of music everywhere I go

Let the rain come, I’ve got my umbrella
Let the rain come, I’m here with my fella
I’ve always got a song in my heart
Let the rain come
Oh, let the rain pour down on me
Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain
Oh, let the rain pour right down on me
Let it rain, let it rain,
Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain
