Before the pandemic, I woke up early in the morning, usually before my partner, and was soon off to work. When the pandemic hit, my work went virtual. Because we are so rural, our internet wouldn’t support streaming, so my classes were prerecorded. This meant that I could set my schedule however I wanted it. Now, with my work having gone virtual, I’ve spent the past year staying in bed longer in the mornings, reading or catching up on emails while enjoying a hot cup of coffee delivered by that same partner who now gets up before me. It was easy to adjust to the change. This song features Deb Cavanaugh on guitar and vocals, Roger Noyes on pedal steel, Brenda Fisher on bass and Mark Foster on drums.
lyrics
I’ve got some hot coffee in bed
My baby brought it to me to clear my head
I’ve got some big plans for the day
I really should be going, but he wants me to stay
I’ve got to put my two feet down on the ground
It’s hard to get moving when he’s around
So first my hot coffee, hot coffee in bed
I’ll grab my car keys in my hand
Put the pedal to the metal, see where I land
I’ve got some high flying to do
I’m looking for adventure, want to try something new
I’ve got to put my two feet down on the ground
It’s hard to get moving when he’s around
So first my hot coffee, hot coffee in bed
I like o.j., I like tea, but I can have those later
My first thought when I wake up is ooh, where’s my percolator
I like o.j., I like tea, but I can have those later
My first thought when I wake up is ooh, where’s my percolator
I’ve got that hot coffee in bed
hot coffee, hot, hot coffee
got that hot coffee in bed
hot, hot coffee, hot, hot coffee
